In a deeply disturbing incident, eight Pakistani nationals were brutally murdered in Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan province by unknown militants. All the victims are said to have hailed from Bahawalpur, Punjab. The incident took place in the village of Haizabad in Mehrestan district

According to initial reports, the killings occurred nearly 100 kilometers inside Iranian territory, far from the Pakistan-Iran border. The victims, all motor mechanics by profession, were working at an auto repair shop when they were attacked.

Sources indicate that the assailants tied the hands and feet of the victims before killing them in a gruesome manner.

Among the deceased are Dilshad, the shop owner; his son Naeem; and three other workers—Jafar, Danish, and Nisar. Efforts are currently underway to verify the identities of the remaining three victims.

Pakistani embassy officials in Iran are en route to the site of the incident to gather more information. However, communication remains challenging due to the remote location, and Iranian authorities have yet to release an official statement.

Diplomatic channels are actively working to confirm the full identity of all the deceased and arrange for the repatriation of their bodies.

The Sistan and Baluchestan region has witnessed a rise in activities by armed groups hostile toward Pakistan in recent years. The latest attack has raised serious questions regarding cross-border intelligence sharing and security cooperation between the two neighboring countries.
